I. Do Now: President Obama's health care reform has finally passed. Although some parts of the health care bill will have to be corrected by the Senate, many say Obama's health care bill will be the biggest legislative change since the Civil Rights Amendment, the amendment that guaranteed equal rights for all people.
The bill only passed by a small margin (only a few votes). The bill had to be changed many times and part of that change will not include abortions in the new health care reform. Many feel Obama needed to include that so that conservatives in Congress would not try to block the bill. Others feel Obama's bill should have kept abortion in the health care reform.
Do you feel it is okay that for Obama to try and make conservatives happy or should he have done what he felt was right, even if it means not having a bill pass? If you were President Obama, what would you have done?

ReplyDeleteI honestly think that president Obama should have done what he wanted to do to make our country look better and keep us happy, because he's basically the TOP person to make any types of decisions he shouldn't have done what somebody else wanted to do. That's just making him see as a follower than a leader.
ReplyDeleteHis Job is for him to get this country back on its two feet. If that what it takes then let him do what needs to be done. But he should of done what he wanted and felt best what he feels right for the nation but if thats it i think it was good. I would of probally done the same thing if i was president. Heath care we really need that thank you or passing it on.
ReplyDeletei think he did the right thing because that bill will help out a lot of people. Its better to pass a bill then try to start over and make a new that would be a waist of time.If he didn't do that he would never bring change and if he has to sacrifice somethings i'm ok with that.
ReplyDeleteI think that as president of a country that is all about freedom and choice, it is his job to do what he think is right while at the same time balancing both sides of an issue. you have to be somewhat of a moderate to be our president, so even though the bill wont make everybody 100% happy, it is the balance they came up with.
ReplyDeleteI feel that Obama should what have done what he felt was right. He is the president so whatever he feels right for this country is his own decision because if he makes only one group happy then the other will be upset. The fact that he passed the bill is a good thing we need health care in this country. But the only issue is that it does not include abortion,every woman should have a right to choose to abort. But overall I feel he did the right thing to pass the bill.

ReplyDeleteI think its a good thing because some people doesnt have a lot of money to pay there health bills. i dont think it was right that he took abortions out because its up to the couples that are having the babys to choose if they want to keep them or not.

ReplyDeleteI think it's a good idea because a lot of people don't have a lot of money to pay there health bills. I don't think it was a good idea about the whole abortion thing because each woman should have the right to abort the child. Overall he made a good decision for the health care.

ReplyDeleteI think that even tho abortion wasn't part of the health plan we should be happy that everyone is going to have health care. Isn't that really matters. Everyone is going to have the right to see a doctor and get the attention they need. Maybe not now but in a near future they can try changing it so they can have abortion included but for right now we all should understand that we have to compromise about things. Even though we don't agree with them.
